In human color psychology, purple is associated with royalty and nobility. As a mixture of blue and red it results in a color that is both warm and cool. It looks intriguing and distinguished in these bathroom settings.

Ladders make great bathroom accessories. They come in variety of styles and materials that can set the tone of a bathroom. Here are few of my favorite looks: a vernacular ladder contrasted with a classic claw foot tub, an elegant thin black metal ladders, beautiful wood ladder in a monochromatic wood bath, and last but not least an elegant black ladder with built in shelves in a classic bath.
A few posts back I shared with you the amazing pool at the Villa Midgård designed by Stockholm based DAPstockholm. Since summer is almost over in the Northern Hemisphere, let’s go inside and look at the not-too-shabby bathroom of the same villa. Here it is:

I can tell how much fun the architects had designing this bathroom. I adore the random pattern of the floor tiles, the large mirror taking up and entire wall, and the full height window. A floor mounted towel heater, a built-in shelf and two solid wood surfaces complete the look.
I adore the color, that Ball & Farrow paint company calls ARSENIC. We use it in one of our bathroom designs Loft 1, a design inspired by a classic New York 1920 bathroom that so many of us still have for better or worse. Read the backstory if you haven’t in the past. A Loft 1 is currently being completed in NYC and will be posting some gorgeous phots in the next couple of weeks. In meantime enjoy these ARESENIC bathrooms.
I gathered a small collection of lovely contemporary bathrooms that very much remind me of our own Naturalist 2. The common elements are: clean lines, soft limestones, warm woods and contemporary plumbing fittings. All featured bathrooms are quite generous in size and feature some pricy materials. On the contrary our Naturalist 2 is very small, only 35 square feet and the cost of materials will not break your bank.

A shower in Pirates Bay house by O'Connor and Houle Architecture. Nice use of wood and beautiful black fittings.
If you like the bathrooms featured above but don’t quite have the space or the budget see how to get this look here.
Just a little round up of plumbing installations using exposed copper pipes and simple classic cross handles. Although all the images show the rough plumbing combined with vintage porcelain tub or a rough concrete surface, I can also see the copper pipes working beautifully in an all-white minimalist bathroom clad with corian.
Usually we write about bathrooms. But today I would like to digress a bit and share with you an amazing house, with an amazing swimming pool. Take a look at the Villa Midgård designed by Stockholm based DAPstockholm.

The front of the building.

The pool from above.

A peek into the pool from the front. How cool is this?
The bathroom in this house is pretty great as well, and deserves a separate post. Stay tuned.
